Rice kadabu recipe
Ingredients:
- Rice rava - 2 cups
- shredded coconut - 1 handful
- ghee - 1 Tea spoon
- salt as per taste
- Water - 4 cups
Pre cooking procedure:
- soak rice for 3-4 hrs in water.
- drain the rice completely and spread on the paper towel or cotton cloth to remove the extra moisture .
- once the rice is dry and moisture is completely removed .pulse it in the mixer .make sure the rice is not finely powdered but of rava consistency .
Procedure:
- add 4 cups of water in the vessel
- add salt as required and ghee
- once the water starts to boil, add grated coconut and pulsed rice slowly and stir continuously in a low to medium flame
- turn off the stove when it reaches to dough consistency
- make small balls out of it and steam in a idli cooker for about 7-10 mins in a medium flame
- serve hot with spicy chutney ,spicy gravy. (Non-veg gravy would be great combination)
Suggestions :
- ghee can be replaced by oil
- draining rice on paper towels will remove moisture soon at room temperature
- make the rice balls when the dough is warm .so there would be less chance of having lumps
- while making rice balls .make sure to coat your hand with cold water.so the hot rice balls doesn't burn your hands/li>
- while stirring make sure to remove the lumps
- keep one tray of idli cooker (lowest one )to accommodate entire rice balls
- you can prepare more rice rava and store it for future use
